About Crestline and Lake Gregory
Crestline is considered the
gateway to the camping and recreation activities of the San Bernardino National Forest,
because it is the closest mountain resort town to the cities. Even though it is only a
20-minute drive from San Bernardino, many remark that it seems like they are in a
different world when they visit. The temperature is nearly always at least 20 degrees
cooler than down the mountain, and there are four distinct seasons.
In summer, many visitors from all
over Southern California come to Lake Gregory to swim, boat and fish. Throughout the year,
visitors come to shop in Crestline's unique stores or stay in our lodges and in vacation
rentals around the lake.
There are many events throughout
the year. On Memorial Day, we celebrate the opening of Lake Gregory's swimming area, which
stays open through Labor Day. For more information about Lake Gregory, click the Lake
Gregory button at left. Memorial Day and Labor Day are also popular with visitors who come
to browse scores of yard sales throughout the town--a tradition for many years in
Crestline.
On July 4, the town comes alive
for Jamboree Days, which draws tens of thousands for the town parade, gift and food
vendors, an old-fashioned family event at the lake, and fireworks at night.
Other events include fishing
derbies at the lake, the Mountain Fun Runners Car Show, the Redlands Bicycle Classic and a
new paragliding competition that is being planned for the summer. See the Lake Gregory and
Recreation areas of this Web site for more to do in Crestline.
